7 October 2020 – Today, the fifth EU-RNM policy dialogue meeting on public finance management was held in Skopje, together with the meeting of the Sector Working Group on Public Finance Management.

After initial addresses delivered by the Minister of Finance, Fatmir Besimi, and the Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation in North Macedonia, Nicola Bertolini, representatives from state institutions involved in implementation of the Public Finance Management Reform Programme presented the draft implementation report for the Programme’s Action Plan in the first half of the year, i.e. in the period January-August 2020.

In the second half of this meeting, attendees and representatives from observes in the sector working group, i.e. the donor community and civil society organizations, discussed important issues related to implementation of public finance management reform. The civil society representatives advocated for greater participation of the civil society in selection of members to the so-called Fiscal Council whose formation is anticipated under the new Proposed Law on Budgets, posted on the Electronic National Register of Regulations for suggestions and comments.
